How to answer job interview questions without talking too much

Many job seekes screw up thier interviews because they don’t know when to stop talking. They keep going on and on and eventually bore their interview to tears and when it’s all said and done, they can’t figure out why they didn’t get the job.

All too often job seekers give way too much information when they answer an interviewers questions and they never know when to shut up.

Talking too much is a big problem many job seekers have and eventually they end up talking in circles and never knowing when to stop. Then they start to get raised eyebrows from their interviewer and end up talking to a point where they don’t even know what they are saying.

When you are asked a question from an interviewer, just give them a straight up answer without digressing. The key there is without digressing. Do you want me to say it again?

Your answer generally should not take you more that 20 or 30 seconds. Many times when we are asked questions we tend to babble on and …we feel the need to explain everything — DON’T. Just answer the question and then stop talking, which will put the ball back in their court. And if they want to know more from you, then they will ask you. It’s important to stop taking and giving the ball back to your interviewer so they can keep the interview moving along. Interviewers don’t want to and don’t have the time to hear your life story and can gather enough information from you with short answers to your questions.

Do this, and your interviewers will thank you.

Don
